Every year we invite more teachers and students from around the country to join Dr. Yum’s Preschool Food Adventure. Many of the teachers have been amazed at how the curriculum has transformed their students eating habits. So many of them have been inspired to create a culture of wellness in the classroom. In response to teacher requests, we suggest the following recipes that can be used in classroom parties as a substitute to more processed, sugary treats.

We have created a toolbox of ideas for 6 classroom parties:

  1. Fall Harvest/Halloween
  2. Winter Celebration
  3. Valentine’s Day
  4. St. Patrick’s Day
  5. Earth Day/Spring Celebration
  6. End of the Year Luau

Check out these ideas for celebrations throughout the year using recipes from DoctorYum.org to try at your class parties. You could also invite parents to prepare these and bring to class. Not only will it encourage parents and kids to try making new recipes at home, but it will reinforce healthy eating you may try in the classroom. As you know, repeat exposures to new foods is the key to building healthy eating habits for life!
