For years, the Dr. Yum Food Adventure has helped children, families, and educators transform the way they experience food.
Today, we’re excited to share the next step in that journey:
The Dr. Yum Adventure
(formerly Dr. Yum Food Adventure)
Why the Change?
Because what we’ve seen goes far beyond food.
What started as a way to help children explore new foods has grown into something much bigger—a shift in how children approach learning itself.
Yes, children are tasting, exploring, and becoming more open to new foods.
But they’re also developing something deeper.
What We’re Really Building
Across classrooms and communities, we’ve seen the same three changes emerge again and again:
Curiosity: Children begin to approach food, and the world around them, with a sense of wonder instead of hesitation.
Resilience: They learn that not liking something the first time isn’t failure—it’s part of the process.
A Practicing Mindset: Perhaps most powerful of all, children begin to understand that learning takes practice.
Teachers tell us they’re hearing something new:
“I don’t like it… yet. I have to keep practicing.”
That single word—yet—changes everything.
Beyond the Plate
What’s most exciting is how this mindset carries over.
The same children who are learning to try a new food are also:
- Practicing their letters
- Exploring numbers
- Building confidence in new environments
Food becomes the entry point—but the impact extends far beyond the plate.
Eat. Learn. Explore.
Our new name reflects what has been true all along.
When children engage with food in a supportive, joyful way, they are not just eating. They are learning. They are exploring. They are growing.
Join the Adventure
This is more than a name change.
It’s a recognition of what’s possible when we rethink how children experience food—and learning.
We’re excited to continue this work with you. Between now and this fall look for this shift in all parts of our program.
Welcome to the Dr. Yum Adventure.
